Have a picture of Morse code: a puzzle, a screenshot, a bracelet or a card? Choose Image under Decode, and the dots and dashes are read from the picture and turned into text.

Pause for a letter gap, pause longer for a word gap. On a computer the space bar works too. Timing follows the speed in Settings.
Decode Morse from sound or a picture
Play a Morse tone near the microphone, or open a recording. The decoder finds the pitch and the speed by itself and works best on a clean tone between 300 and 1500 Hz. An image works when the dots and dashes are solid shapes on a plain background, like a screenshot or a printed card. Nothing is uploaded: everything is processed on your device.
Set overall speed lower than letter speed for Farnsworth timing: letters stay quick, the gaps get longer. This is how most people learn.

How to decode a picture
- Press Decode above, then Image.
- Choose a photo or screenshot. Crop it close to the code first if you can.
- The dots and dashes found in the image appear in the box, with the text below. Fix any mistakes by editing the dots and dashes directly.
What reads well
- Dots and dashes as shapes: round dots and long bars, dark on a light background or light on a dark one.
- Clear gaps: a bigger gap between letters than inside a letter, and a bigger one again between words.
- One line of code, straight and in focus.
Morse written with keyboard characters (full stops and hyphens in a font) is harder to read from a picture, because the characters are small and close together. If the result is wrong, type the code into the box instead.
How it works, and privacy
The image is turned into black and white, each dark shape is measured, and shapes are sorted into dots and dashes by their length. Gaps between shapes give the letter and word breaks. It all happens in your browser: the picture is never uploaded.
