2 in Morse Code
2 in International Morse code is ··−−−: 2 short and 3 long. Every number in Morse code is five signals long. In cut numbers, the short form operators use when numbers are expected, runs of dashes are cut to one.
What ··−−− means in every alphabet
The same signal stands for different letters in different national codes. This is everything it means in the alphabets this site supports.
| International Morse (ITU) | 2 |
Easy to confuse with: 7 (−−···, dots and dashes swapped), 8 (−−−··, the same signals in reverse).
2 in cut numbers
When both sides know numbers are expected, operators shorten 2 to ··−, the same signal as the letter U. Only the runs of dashes are cut; the dots stay.
2 in American Morse code
In American (railroad) Morse code, 2 is sent as ··−··, not ··−−− as in International Morse.
