How to practise with it

1. Pick the characters you know. With My own set you can drill just the letters you keep missing.
2. Keep the letter speed at 18 WPM or more and lower the overall speed instead. This is Farnsworth timing: the letters keep their real sound and only the gaps stretch.
3. Press New groups and type as you listen. Do not stop on a missed letter: leave it and catch the next one.
4. Press Check. Missed characters are underlined, so you know what to drill next.

Why groups of five

Five-character groups are the traditional format of code practice and of coded traffic, and they are a good size for the ear: long enough to need concentration, short enough to recover after a miss. Shorter groups suit beginners; longer ones build the habit of copying without pause.

Take it with you

Download WAV saves the current groups as an audio file for your phone or car. The generated text is not shown until you check, so the file works as a test too. To practise words instead of random groups, type any text in the translator and play it at the same speeds.
